4! 4!

Happy birthday Everly and Grant!  We were all so excited to celebrate them turning four-they seem so grown up!  This is really a stage for the two of them, especially since the baby stage with twins is often harder to appreciate since there is so much work. And screaming, in their case.  But now we see the delights in there unique personalities and also the bond between them that just keeps growing stronger.

This was a big year for them.  They started Child Care two half days a week and are finally beginning to enjoy it.  They love MOPS and Sunday School, going to the Y and swim lessons.  They also love "stay-at-home days" most of all and can easily spend the day making up games between the two of them.  They love anything to do with cars--riding their indoor cars they got for Christmas, playing with the Peppa Pig car, racing matchbox cars, etc. Everly's favorite colors are pink and purple and she still adores baby dolls. And anything to do with Peppa Pig.  Grant loves red and green, the song "Joy to the World", and Power Rangers. Books are always a hit with them and we are regulars at the library story hour. They are HUGE eaters and really like most foods. One of their sweetest times is early mornings when they wake up ready to cuddle and tell "scary stories", i.e. any examples we know of times when someone saw a mouse, or thought a dog was a fox, or had raccoons in their attic.

Everly and Grant, we love you both so much! We had hoped and prayed for another baby to our family and were overjoyed (and surprised!) when God gave us TWO!  You are such gifts to us and your sisters and we can't wait to see what this year brings.

Five on Friday!

A few more things going on around here...

1)  Basketball season is officially done for our big girls!  They had a great time with so much learning.  The 7th and 8th-grade team finishes the season with an overnight tournament with the other CSI schools.  They ended up losing the final championship in double-overtime but had fun in each aspect of the tournament.  Jonathan's hands were bright red from all of the cheering and clapping for our girls!

2) Speaking of Brookfield Christian School, Amalia and Brinnly made their debut in the school musical this year--the Pirates of Penzance.  Their teacher really challenged them in learning hard songs but they loved it.  It was really a silly show and fun to watch them.  Mali was in the Daughter's Chorus and Brinn was a policeman.  They really showed their personalities in their roles!

3) On that same weekend (of course!) Carrigan and Delaney had their school's informance.  They did great! Carrigan's class's folk dance was really good and even Delaney's first grade class sang out during "Fifty Nifty United States". Note--my girls don't sing the line "Wisconsin is the best" They don't want show favorites between Michigan/Pennsylvania/Wisconsin!

4) We went to the Museum of Science and Industry with Grandma Deni!  It was a fun way to spend a February Sunday.  I think our favorite was the Maze of Mirrors, although almost everything in the Human Body exhibit was really cool too. We're looking forward to checking out more Chicago museums soon.

5) Happy birthday to our sweet niece Julia!  5 years old!  We had a fantastic time celebrating her with trains, arcade games, and Elsa cake!

Snow Days

We had a crazy season of winter here.  In our previous years of living in Wisconsin, we have had one total snow day.  This year we had four.  Two of those were due to extreme cold temperature (actual temps were in the -20's!) I like to think that we made the best of the situations.  On the first day, Grandma Sandy made it into town well before the snow started so she was here while all the kids got to stay home.  They had a blast playing outside in the huge snow mounds and then coming in for lots of lots of baking. Another very cold day we all expected the frigid temperature (and the school call-off) so the older girls had friends over to spend the day. Many batches of puppy chow were made!  At some point, we pulled out ALL of the legos and stored the creations on the dining room table for several days.  The big girls also set up "school" for the twins and they loved learning from them. They had "sleepover nap times too". At meal times we crowded around the kitchen counters/island for a fun change of pace. We are all glad now to see the snow melt away and welcome spring but I hope we look back on this season with some sweet family memories.
