Mali's milestones

Yes, we realize that she's been practicing standing for weeks now, but nothing quite prepares for you walking in to see your child whom you laid down and tucked into bed now standing fully upright in her crib. And of course, incredibly proud of herself.

She had another big event last week, on her 10-month birthday--her first word! Not, the "mama", "dada" or "baby" that we've been practicing, but while we were at Whole Foods, a complete stranger walked down our aisle, and Mali greeted her with a distinct "HI!". The woman herself said "You just said hi!", and again, smiles all around. We're now working on saying it to people we actually know and love, but no luck so far.

I love her! She has the biggest smile in that photo, that is definitely one for the baby book.

Have you read about our latest family crisis on my blog? You'll probably laugh but trust me, it's not funny.

Bye!

They have Whole Foods in Pittsburgh? I'll have you know that Dallas is and forever will be the quintessential Yuppie USA. :) I do miss shopping there, though. How fitting that a Ward baby's first word would be a cordial greeting to a stranger, making friends wherever she goes.
