Five on a rainy weekend

1) We hosted a fabulous party last night, if we do say so ourselves. Nothing says fun like summer weather, sangria (for those of age and not pregnant), and friends. And our Bible Study group can cook!

2). Mali accompanied me to my most recent midwife appointment. She took along her new doctor's kit and was extremely proud to help check my blood pressure and measure my stomach. When we entered the office, I introduced myself to the receptionist and said I was there for the midwife. Mali then adds, "I'm Mali and I'm here for my mommy".

3) Instead of their usual Wiggles or Elmo video after naptime today, the girls (unprompted) watched 20 minutes of the Penguins/Flyers game. Daddy was so proud.

4) Grand Rapids has a cool new opportunity for artists--check it out here. Help me convince our friend, Kellie, to enter!

5) Our big announcement...Jonathan will be starting a new job on Monday! We have been waiting and praying for this for months now and are finally ready to exhale. Thank you to all of you who have been supporting us in so many ways through all of these transitions. More job details to follow!

A breath of Milwaukee's fresh air

After an exhuasting winter and early spring, we decided we all needed a break. So we took off for one of our favorite places in the world--Milwaukee, Wisconsin! We were treated with heaven-like weather and all of the treats we have missed including fish fry and frozen custard. We were graciously hosted by our dear friends, "Aunt" Hannah and the Stroh family. Five kids--plus our two! What a recipe for wild and crazy times. We also caught up with our old friends, the Scheuers, the Reinkes, and Rivera/Kavanagh family, as well our dear, dear, dear Trader Joe.

Meijer Gardens Butterfly Exhibit

Mali was impressed but Brinn was MESMERIZED. We've never seen her so enthused. Upon returning home, she confiscated Mali's butterfly nightgown and has been wearing it to bed ever since. Mali, on the other hand, had no problem asking the guides if there were any turkeys to see. Umm, no. This was a BUTTERFLY exhibit.

Happy Birthday Grandma Deni!

Mali guessed that you were 22 today, so hope that puts a smile on your face! We love you and can't wait to celebrate with you in person with a birthday fiesta this weekend. (Let's try for some more season-appropriate picures then). Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Gregg

We're sorry that the stomach flu kept us from an all-out celebration, but we hope you enjoyed the birthday pie as well as the field trip to Sam's Club and the pet store with your girls. At least you had a few of your favotie things in there. We love you and look forward to some jerk-marinade taste-testing on Gregg's Grill soon!

Marshall Troy Yingst

.We got the phone call last Thursday to come pick up our goddaughter, Maddy until her grandparents could arrive. Maddy's little brother was on the way! So we had some fun at the park with her and then got the good news the next day that after a (relatively) easy labor, JR and Amanda welcomed Marshall Troy into the world.
On Friday we went to the hospital to meet him. He was adorable and everyone was doing great. Everyone, that is, except for Brinnly. She needed plenty of extra cuddles from her Aunt Amanda. Even the compliments on her new hairstyle didn't seem to help that much. We hope she'll recover before July.
